Practical AI Readiness & Opportunity Assessment

A great deal is being promised about AI, but the genuine gains are often modest and practical: the form re-typed, the email written forty times a week, the document nobody has time to read. Our AI readiness assessment identifies those opportunities, checks whether your systems and information can support them, and arranges them into a practical AI opportunity roadmap based on your business.

Arrange an AI readiness review
Does this sound familiar?

The usual starting points.

  • Your board has asked what the company is doing about AI, and a considered answer is needed.
  • A tool has been demonstrated, and it is hard to judge whether it truly suits your business.
  • Colleagues are already placing company information into AI tools, and no guidance exists yet.
  • You suspect a good many hours go into work a machine might do, though not precisely which hours.
  • Something was tried, it half worked, and it quietly fell out of use.

AI works best on top of sound systems, reliable information and well-understood business processes. Where those are not yet in place, the right advise is to attend to them first, and we will say so.

Our method

Four steps, over about a week.

The same four steps each time, so that the result can be compared and discussed openly.

01

Work map

A session of sixty to ninety minutes listing the repetitive work: where colleagues re-type, copy, chase, search or summarise.

02

Data check

What information exists for each task, where it is kept, how reliable it is, and who looks after it — marked simply as green, amber or red.

03

Score

Each task considered by volume, repetition, the cost of mistakes and the readiness of the information, so the order is not a matter of preference.

04

Shortlist

The three AI opportunities we would recommend, with an indication of effort and benefit, along with sensible guidance on what should remain with people.

What you get

A practical AI opportunity shortlist, rather than a strategy document.

  • A considered list of candidate tasks from across the business.
  • A simple green, amber or red view of whether your information can support each one.
  • Three recommended AI use cases, with an indication of effort and expected benefit.
  • The tasks we would advise against handing to AI, and our reasons.
  • Straightforward written guidance your team can follow from the first day.

Well suited to you if

  • There is genuine volume in some repetitive process.
  • You would like an AI readiness decision based on your own figures, rather than a demonstration.
  • Guidance is needed for colleagues who are already using AI tools.

Perhaps not, if

  • You would like a chatbot on the website and nothing more, which is a small build rather than a review.
  • The hope is that AI will tidy a process that has not yet been defined.
In practice

The simpler improvement proved the more valuable.

A company asked us about an AI assistant for customers. The work map showed that customer questions were relatively few, while the team spent several hours each week drawing the same figures out of supplier documents by hand.

What changed: Document processing was taken first. It repaid the effort quickly, and produced the tidy information the customer assistant would later need in order to be useful.

Questions

A few questions you may have.

The Business & Digital Health Check and a Second Opinion are free. Strategy, AI readiness and transformation work are paid engagements, quoted as a fixed piece of work once we know the scope. There is no hourly billing.

Must our information be tidy before we begin?

No — finding out how tidy it is forms part of the review. What we would not do is build upon information we know to be unreliable and hope for the best.

Will you recommend your own tools?

We recommend whatever fits, including ready-made software and, at times, doing nothing for now. If building is genuinely the answer, our Build team can help, and you remain free to take the plan elsewhere.

Is our information safe?

The review does not require access to live data. Where we look at examples they can be anonymised, and the written guidance we prepare covers precisely this question for your team.

How long until something is working?

The AI readiness review takes about a week. A first, narrow use typically follows within a few weeks, kept deliberately small so that it can be judged honestly.
